Altitude, speed, course, battery, reverse geocoding, and automatic stop/trip segmentation in the detail panel.
Optional home-area notifications when a device arrives or departs after a sync. Set coordinates manually or via location.
Review recent sync runs, points added, and error messages in Settings for operational visibility.
Lives in the menu bar. Update now, start/stop collection, and open the main window on demand.
Find My Trail is not a tracking service and does not phone home. It reads data Apple already stores on your Mac and keeps the result in your user Library folder.
Find My Trail is a serious Mac utility. First launch runs a setup wizard β plan for permissions and a one-time key extraction on modern macOS.
Drag Find My Trail to Applications and open it from the menu bar map icon.
Required to read encrypted Find My cache files. The wizard links directly to System Settings β Privacy & Security β Full Disk Access.
macOS 14.4+ encrypts Find My data. The built-in extractor needs Python 3, lldb, and temporarily disabled SIP/AMFI boot-args β advanced users only.
At least one successful update must write location points before the main experience unlocks.
Enable background collection at login and home-area notifications if you want always-on monitoring.
Download the signed DMG, complete setup once, and keep your Find My history under your control.
